     George Francis Crain, 79, of Hong Kong, China, formerly of Peoria, passed away on August 26, 2010, in Hong Kong.

     He was born in Glendale, KY on June 23, 1931, a son of Thomas E. and Cora J. (Milby) Crain. He married Alice V. Young on September 21, 1951. She preceded him in death on July 18, 2006 in Peoria. He was also preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert E. and James T. Crain; and sister, Annie C. Crain.

     George is survived by his sons, The Reverend James D. Crain of China and George S. “Steve” Crain of Fullerton, CA; grandchildren, Darrick Crain, Jimmy Crain and Billie (Crain) May; and ten great grandchildren.

     He retired from Caterpillar Inc., after thirty years of service. He created several inventions, received one patent and was a member of The Smithsonian Institute.

     George was a life-long Christian and attended Calvary Temple Assembly of God in Peoria. He also was a U.S. Air Force veteran, having served in Anchorage, AK.

     Graveside services and interment will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, September 13, 2010, at Mt. Hawley Cemetery in Peoria, with the Reverend Dean Grabill officiating.

     Memorial contributions may be made to The Bamboo Harvest in care of Calvary Temple Assembly of God Church, 5125 West Farmington Road, Peoria, IL 61604.

     Arrangements have been entrusted to Clary Funeral Home, 428 West McClure Avenue, in Peoria.
